Trinidad, Cuba

If there was ever a time to go to Cuba it’s now. Basking in the Caribbean under Castro’s watchful eye, the island is opening its arms to tourism but not quite letting go…yet.

:: Welcome to Trinidad
Trinidad is suspended in a magical colonial timewarp. You'd hardly
know that the rest of the world was pushing impatiently into the
21st century when, standing in the Plaza Mayor, you realise you're
completely surrounded by perfectly preserved churches and monuments
dating from the 18th and 19th centuries. And let's hope it stays
this way - since 1998 Trinidad has been protected as a UNESCO World
Heritage Site, which should go a long way to ensuring we can enjoy
its cobbled streets, red tiled roofs and stunning palaces for years
to come. Add to this the long stretch of coast heading south and
the lush, wooded mountains rising inland, and you may in fact not
want to share the secret with anyone at all…
