:: Welcome to Cape Town
When it comes to selecting a holiday destination, Cape Town
ticks all the right boxes. And with a stunning first impression,
it starts as it means to go on: its pristine coastline, magnificent
countryside and unique flora and fauna create a perfect setting
for iconic Table Mountain, basking in all its splendour in year-round
sunshine. But this is only for starters. Cape Town is steeped in
rich history and is a fascinating cultural melting pot of African
tribes from the north and Indonesian, French, Dutch, British and
German settlers from overseas. Its cuisine is a delicious mix of
African ingenuity and international flavours, its tourist guides
offer whale watching on one page and diving with sharks on the next,
and its wines are among the best in the world. So whether you're
looking for an active, gourmet or historical destination, you'll
find that Cape Town offers it all.
Climate
During spring (September to November) the famous southeasterly gales
create huge waves that roll up from the Antarctic and pound the
coastline. In winter (June through August) the weather can be a
bit gloomy and, if the wind blows from the snowy peaks inland, chilly.
