Murcia, Spain

For all the millions who visit Spain each year there are a million reasons why. Whatever your whim, you can be sure that somewhere in Spain will cater to it.

:: Welcome to Murcia
Tucked into a corner on Spain’s south-eastern coast, surrounded by the peaks of inland Andalucia and with meagre rainfall contributing to a hot, dry climate, Murcia does not experience the influx of visitors so typical of the rest of Spain. That’s not to say it doesn’t have its qualities – and those who do come are sure to realize this whilst enjoying the lack of crowds. The city was founded in 825AD as the Islamic town of Mursiya and, following a long occupation by the Muslims, sees many of its people cultivating the outlying orchards still irrigated by Islamic-style acequias and aqueducts.
