:: Welcome to Cambridge
Cambridge or Oxford, Oxford or Cambridge…in many ways strikingly similar, in many ways fiercely different. Oxford certainly beats Cambridge in tourist numbers and size, but maybe this alone is good enough reason to head for the latter. Otherwise you could look to the university and take in Cambridge's long list of Nobel prize-winners, its long-established academic excellence, and its prestigious examination board. And those not coming to immerse their heads in books - despite the pull of one of the best libraries in the world - will just be able to relax and enjoy the beauty of this great city, with its ancient buildings, winding river and artistic flair. It is at once bustling and modern, tranquil and quaint - and, coming back to the Oxford thing, really only needs to put up a fight once a year: at the famous University Boat Race, of course.
