Sosua is located on the Dominican Republic's northern Atlantic coast, about 20km east of Puerto Plata and 14km west of Cabarete. It is divided into two separate villages, Los Charamicos (western side) and El Batey (eastern side), which are separated by a bay at whose base lies a beautiful white sandy beach more than half a mile long.
